After 25 years as managing director of Hertwich Engineering, Franz Niedermair has retired. His successor as managing director is Dipl. Ing. Stefan Pelech.
After completing his studies at the University of Technology in Graz, Franz Niedermair first gained several years of international project management experience before joining Hertwich Engineering, a company of the SMS group, in 1989 in the area of R&D and marketing. In 1994 he took over the management. Under his leadership, Hertwich became the world's leading equipment partner for aluminium casthouses and the company's workforce nearly tripled.
Stefan Pelech completed his studies in technical physics at the University of Vienna and joined Hertwich Engineering in 2003 in the field of research and development, where he particularly worked on the development of technologies for melting contaminated aluminium scrap. At the beginning of 2018, he was entrusted with the management of the company as successor of Franz Niedermair.
Under the direction of Franz Niedermair, Hertwich, as an equipment supplier, sought technological leadership in all areas of aluminium casthouse equipment. In close cooperation with the customers, significant innovations have been developed. The most important innovations include the further development of the aluminium recycling technology, the improvement of casting technology, the continuous improvement of the accuracy and efficiency of heat treatment equipment, the productivity optimization of sawing and packing plants and the further development of automation.
Even under the new leadership, Hertwich will continue this parth to remain reliable partner of the aluminium industry worldwide.
